GrantTheHierophant's News

Posted by GrantTheHierophant - October 25th, 2024

Hey all,

It's my birthday today and I'm feeling good. πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‰

I've got a few things in the works right now and am trying to hone my skills as a creator. It's been a great year so far and hopefully will stay pretty good in the months to come. I've been working on a video for Halloween that's going to go up on my YouTube soon, so keep an eye out. I appreciate all of my friends on here and all the other people I've collaborated with over the last few years. There's plenty more to come, I hope.

Hellion is currently on hiatus, if you haven't heard. Me and Alex still have the money from the Gofundme campaign and plan to put it towards some simple storyboards to try and show you what the next episode would look like. I'll keep you all updated if there's any news. I talk about it further on A100 with Aalasteir!

Hopefully we'll have something to show you all soon, and we'll go from there.

I also helped Aalasteir with a song (recording some fun foley for percussion).

Go check out Alex's "Clover House" post, it's dope.

In other news, I've been re-learning guitar after a decade-long hiatus and have been trying to put something together with what I've learned. Keep an eye out for it next year at some point. I still feel like a beginner, but if anyone wants to collab I'd always be down to help out! Collaboration is a great way to find out what skills need to be improved, plus it gives me a chance to flex my creative muscles.

Content Contempt seems to be at an end, which should have been obvious by now, but I've been trying to record more episodes here and there. There were four episodes recorded but I felt the quality was not up to my standards, so I ended up scrapping them. I'll give it another go soon enough but for now, assume it's dead and buried until it's zombified corpse comes shuffling back to your Timeline.

The Garf Girl Trilogy EP has officially ended with the late-addition Mumble Raps. I explain it in the description of the song, but to summarize, I spent a few months trying to get something recorded to end the Garf Girl Trilogy but slowly began to hate how I sounded. There were a few different recordings that I tried out, and Mumble Raps was one of them. I had tried to re-record it, but couldn't get my voice to sound as raspy as this first recording, so I shelved it. It sat for a few years before I decided to release it, to at least give some sort of closure to the album. Currently the That Was A Mistake [EP] has 4 songs and will go permanently unfinished barring divine intervention. It was a fun project and I had a lot of fun dipping my toes into rapping. I appreciate the support from the people who let me use their songs, and Anjovi who helped out with the mixing on some tracks. Thanks, also, to the people who featured besides that, Anjovi, PichΓ©, and maxxjamez. I appreciated the support, and it helped me get a lot further than I would have gotten otherwise. Same goes for the people who let me use their music, Liam, Gminor, TheHoodedFiend, Cysteke, BlackLynk, Ookiyo, thiccburger, and GeminiGemini.

Thanks to Casper, RUNNER-BOY and Feynmar as well, for letting me use their tracks for songs not in the trilogy EP, and Dry for letting us be a part of the Summer Collab Album (2022), which was a ton of fun. As well, shoutouts to the people who said it was okay to let me use their music, even if I didn't end up recording anything for it. They're dope, too!

I was actually waiting to finish the third EP before making a thank-you post, so sorry if it's a little late now, lol.

Music is a big part of my life, so I was happy to try out something new, and I'm glad people got to see what I made and offer their feedback.

It all started with a silly song I did for fun! Thanks to NGPR (The Shal Era with Chris & Aaron) for playing this on their Sunday show when the song came out.

Like I said, I'm feeling good. I hope I get a lot more done in 2025. 🀞

Thanks,

Grant

Hello again!

My name is Grant and I occasionally do things on the internet. One of those things was putting the pilot for Hellion together.

It's hard to believe that it has already been a year! It seems like it wasn't that long ago that me and Alex were putting ideas together for the series, so this was a trip. Making the pilot was something I really enjoyed doing and am proud of the thing our team created.

There will be more Hellion news in the not too distant future, but for now I just wanted to say...

Happy Anniversary!

Hello again!

My name's Grant, and I run a YouTube channel and like to post on Newgrounds. I occasionally help friends with projects, too, whether it's lending my voice or helping out otherwise.

Earlier this year, me and my friend @DinoDork released a short animatic titled Hellion: Oxenfree.

[YouTube mirror]

We were really proud of how it turned out, and were happy to have worked with some amazing people to get the animatic out!

Alongside the pilot's release, we also started a GoFundMe campaign to try and get funding for a second episode, a fully fleshed out, complete animation with all of the bells and whistles that comes with that (animation, colors, the works). There have been a few donations so far, and we're incredibly thankful! But we need more before we can start production on the episode.

We want to fund Episode 2 by November 1st, 2023.

We're asking everyone to please consider donating so that we can make another episode. It would mean the world to us! Thank you!

We're hoping to be able to raise enough money to get Episode 2 into production, and want to continue working on the series moving forwards.

Follow us on Twitter for future updates from me and Alex! @HellionShow

Thank you,

Grant

Hello again,

I'm Grant Newkirk, a writer, producer, and voice actor. I'm also a regular here on Newgrounds.

Last month I made a post where I called for voice actors to audition for Hellion. We received a wonderful turnout! A total of 244 different audition submissions!

There were plenty of good auditions to comb through and I appreciate everyone who took the time to try out for our pilot. We deliberated for quite some time over who to cast, but after careful consideration we have chosen our actors.

The actors have been contacted; If you were not contacted, you were not cast.

Congratulations to the actors who were chosen. A big thank you to everyone else who tried out! We really do appreciate it.

Expect more Hellion updates in the future!

**LOOKING FOR VOICE ACTORS**

Hello,

I'm Grant Newkirk, a writer, producer, and voice actor. I'm also a regular here on Newgrounds.

I'm putting together a pilot animatic for a show and need voice actors. The name of the project is Hellion.

We need voice actors for three different protagonist roles (a 14 year old male (Norman), a 15 year old female (Joan), and a 48 year old male (Mr. Dark)), as well as a voice actor for a minor role *(a 55-65 year old male (Barrett))* and encourage everyone to try out!Β

Voice actors must be 18 years or older to audition for a role.

Further details about the characters, as well as an audition script will be provided to those who want to apply!

This will be a paid position. Payment will be based on skill level, equipment, and experience. Tell us your rates when you apply.

To apply, simply send a message to me on Newgrounds, Discord (Grant The Hierophant#1461), or email me at grantknewkirk@gmail.com saying you'd like to apply for a role. Also, feel free to link, or attach, your demo reel. Actors will be asked to send an audition with a script that we will provide to them. You may treat your audio as you see fit for the audition. Slate your audition, as well. Please do not add sound effects to your audition.

We will be closing auditions at 11:59pm CST on August 31st.

Any auditions sent after this time will be disregarded.

Auditions are not restricted, anyone above the age of 18 may apply.

XLR microphones are preferred, though acting ability will be accounted for. Don't feel discouraged to try out for a role if you have a USB microphone, or are just starting out as a voice actor!

Protagonist roles:

Norman (medium to medium-high pitched voice) - speaks 25 times / 164 words

Joan (medium pitched voice) - speaks 24 times / 159 words

Mr. Dark (medium-low to low pitched voice) - speaks 15 times / 189 words

Minor / cameo role:

Barrett (medium-low to low pitched voice) - speaks 2 times / 29 words

We look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks again for giving my music a listen!

The first EP was a ton of fun to make, so I decided to make another!

I'm also on Soundcloud, if you want to stream my music over there instead.

Thanks again, again, to everyone who listened to all of the music on the newest album. The reception was better overall and I even got to work with a few cool people along the way!

Thanks to @heyopc, @Liam-Montana, @BlackLynk, @maxxjamez, @cysteke, @ookiyo, and last but not least @thiccburger. You've all been amazing and I am grateful that you've all allowed me to rap over your awesome tracks, or to have you lay down a verse with me.

Special shoutouts to @anjovi for helping with feedback as well as helping to master the vocals on The First Filler Arc. Go check out his page, he makes great music.

Another shoutout to @DinoDork for making the art for ζ°—γΎγγ‚Œ, Youthful One! I really love how it turned out.

Speaking of The First Filler Arc, I should mention that it's the first, and that there will be more in the future. Don't know how frequently I'll put out songs like those, but expect a few more to come. That song was just ideas I had for songs that I couldn't really make a full song out of; So instead, you get to hear the ideas as they were.

Once again, I really do appreciate you all and love what a great community and platform Newgrounds has been. I appreciate all of the feedback I received! Hopefully, once I finish The Garf Girl EP Trilogy, I'll make a full length album, but that's at least another year out.

But now, I finally get a chance to work on some other songs and projects that have been cooking on the backburner for a while now.

You've all been dope, thanks again.

Thanks to everyone who gave my songs a listen!

It was a lot of fun breaking out with my first album!

Thanks especially to everyone who gave をンチフゑンク, This Is Love?! a listen and helped to make it popular. I really appreciate that so many people saw it!

I'm grateful to @Liam-Montana, @B-RadGfromOV, @Anjovi, @TheHoodedFiend, and @cysteke for letting me use their music as backing tracks. Special shoutout to @Anjovi for helping me master the vocals for So It Goes; Drinking Again and Breather!

I also wanted to thank @Casper for letting me use Dawn Of Time for my Wobble Rhymes single!

I hope to make more raps soon, so keep an eye out for future releases!

I have a YouTube channel where I talk about video games and occasionally do shorts!

I just released part one of my Dead Rising review/retrospective, which has been in the making for quite a while now. I had it on the back-burners for the longest time and I'm glad to finally put out the first video in the series (hopefully the next one won't take that long to put out either). Go ahead and give it a watch if you like video essays about video games!

I've also been "animating" my Wizardo The Wonderful episodes and putting them on YouTube!

Wizardo The Wonderful comes out regularly on Mondays and Tuesdays (alternating every week) while the animated versions come out every Friday at 2:00pm CST. If you liked the audio version of the series, you'll like the video version as well. Thanks again to everyone who's guest-starred on the show so far!

It's been fun making Wizardo The Wonderful! To anyone who's curious, there will be 12 episodes in the series with the finale coming to Newgrounds on February 22nd.

Finally, me and my friends have also been reviewing movies on occasion!

Check out the full playlist here!

If anyone likes movies they'll probably enjoy hearing us babble on about things that worked and things that failed horribly. More to come!

Thank you, sincerely, to everyone who watches and listens to my content; I try my best to make my videos entertaining and I hope one day to find an audience! I really do appreciate everyone who leaves reviews on my Newgrounds uploads and to anyone who enjoys the kind of content I produce. Really, thank you!

I have a YouTube channel where I talk about video games and occasionally do shorts.

Check it out!

Thanks to everyone who follows me here on Newgrounds, I will still upload the occasional copypasta reading and short improv sketch. Most of my attention is spent on my YouTube channel, though, so if you want more content from me go ahead and subscribe!

Don't tell anyone, but I'm currently working on a video about Super Punch Out and Dead Rising. They're both long-form video essays about what makes the games great, and the Dead Rising video is set to be my longest video to date. My Super Punch Out video will be out soonish but who knows how long the Dead Rising one will take to script, voice, and edit.

Aside from that I also do the occasional video about working at old jobs, they've become less frequent but I'm planning on doing another in the not too distant future.

Thanks again to everyone here on Newgrounds, I really appreciate the support!
